🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions at the Primakov Readings International Forum, Moscow, December 7, 2022

Key points:

🔻 It is obvious that the ongoing deregulation of the international system of relations is rooted in the unwillingness of the Western minority to abandon its hegemonistic aspirations and to accept the multipolar reality.

🔻 Multipolarity will not assert itself tomorrow or the day after. The establishment of the multipolar world as the generally recognised basis for the subsequent operation of the international community will take a historically long time.

🔻 It is obvious that we are realigning our foreign policy and foreign trade. We no longer want to remain under the illusion that the West, having proved to be completely unreliable, deceitful and impossible to negotiate with, will conscientiously participate in the globalisation processes or even mechanisms of its own making.

🤝 We have people to work with and to count on.

🔻 Western system has completely discredited itself as unable to uphold agreements or to inspire respect or a desire to preserve its principles and mechanisms.

🔻 They say we are turning away from the West to face the East. We are not turning away as it was the West who ended cooperation with us and built a wall. We work with those who are ready.

Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting of the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. Highlights:

🔹A rehabilitation support system for those injured in the special military operation will be set up soon at the federal and regional levels.

🔹Russia will consistently fight for its national interests in various ways, focusing on peaceful means.

🔹Talk of extending mobilisation does not make sense; it is not needed at this time.

🔹Starting in January 2023, medical workers employed in primary healthcare will receive additional payments of between 4,500 and 18,500 rubles, depending on their job and function.

🔹Russia's nuclear forces are in a more advanced state than those of any other country – however, Russia will not brandish its nuclear weapons, as it sees them solely as a means of defence.

🔹 A special programme should be launched in Russia's new territories to provide assistance to citizens and rebuild housing.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions at the Primakov Readings International Forum, Moscow, December 7, 2022 (excerpt):

🔻 It is obvious that the ongoing deregulation of the international system of relations is rooted in the unwillingness of the Western minority to abandon its hegemonistic aspirations and to accept the multipolar reality.

🔻Speaking of promoting new formats, let’s not forget that six years ago, President of Russia Vladimir Putin spoke about the Eurasian continent and taking advantage of the trends in Asia and the Pacific region of becoming the drivers of global growth. He said we must not lose the natural competitive advantage of the Eurasian countries. Eurasia is a huge continent with the largest population. Its location is so advantageous in terms of geopolitics and the geo-economy that the benefit of joining their efforts is obvious to everybody. We have proposed forming a network for mutually beneficial cooperation with all the regional integration associations across Eurasia (I mentioned the EAEU, the SCO and ASEAN), cooperation through promoting shared approaches rather than imposing artificial frameworks such as Indo-Pacific concepts. We call this process the Greater Eurasian Partnership. In addition to the three organisations I mentioned, this process must be open to all countries in Eurasia without exception, including Europe. But this is the next stage.

🔻 NATO proclaimed a new concept at its Madrid summit in June this year. The organisation’s sphere of responsibility now includes the Indo-Pacific region, as it is called in the West, which implies, in plain English, setting India against China. They make no secret of this. They have even formulated a concept of indivisible security, although not as it was formulated by the OSCE. They say that Euro-Atlantic security is indivisible from Indo-Pacific security. Japan has actively supported this concept. The concept provides justification for NATO’s infiltration in the Indo-Pacific region and the establishment of NATO-centric structures there, which in ordinary terms means the Asia-Pacific region. In the past, NATO claimed to be a defensive alliance, and it was clear that it was defending itself against the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact countries. NATO continued to claim that it was a defensive alliance even after their dissolution, although its lines of defence have moved east five times. It was impossible to make them say who they were defending themselves from.

If the bloc gains a foothold in the Asia-Pacific region, which can happen very quickly, they will say again that it is a defence line and that NATO is a defensive alliance, but the line of defence will be in the South China Sea. NATO-like military blocs such as AUKUS are expanding through the involvement of Japan, South Korea and New Zealand and the creation of “partnerships for maritime domain awareness.” It is an obvious attempt to put distance between ASEAN and China, and to stop their dialogue on the South China Sea, to snatch the initiative and decide the matter without China. They are trying to involve the ASEAN nations that are liable to accept this approach. There are certain fine points. The West regards half of ASEAN nations as promising in terms of detaching them from the 10 nations, disrupting ASEAN’s unity and undermining the structures that have been created in the region around the ASEAN over decades on the basis of consensus and general agreement. I am referring to the ASEAN Regional Forum, the ADMM-Plus and the East Asia Summit, which the 10 ASEAN nations and their eight Dialogue Partners hold every year.

On December 8, 2022, the Ambassador H.E. Marat Pavlov held a meeting with Hon. Cory Quirino, trustee of NGO "President Elpidio Quirino Foundation".
The discussion focused on the history of the Russian refugees, who stayed at the island of Tubabao in 1949-1953.

The accommodation of Russian nationals at Tubabao became possible due to the strong support of President Elpido Quirino, who visited the camp in person.

The year 2023 will mark the 70th anniversary of the closure of the Tubabao refugee camp so the parties agreed on the necessity to commemorate this significant chapter of the Russian-Philippine history by holding a series of memorable events.

The President of Russia spoke at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

"This year, our integration association has performed effectively and continued to grow steadily. In the context of volatile global markets and an unfavourable global political situation, the EAEU has taken timely and effective [steps] to not only stabilise the macroeconomic situation in our countries, but also to improve a number of important development indicators, stimulate growth in key economic sectors, and support the economic ties that have developed within the EAEU," Vladimir Putin said.

💬 According to President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen, “Russia, which uses disinformation to blame others for its despicable actions, is depriving vital access to food the most vulnerable countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia”.

🧮 However, basic math is hardly an element of “the Russian propaganda”.

🌾 So far, 13,7 million metric tons of foodstuffs (43% of which is corn for cattle feed) has been shipped from Ukraine under the “Black Sea Initiative”.

📈 32,2% of that amount, went just to the top three consumers among the high-income States (UN classification): Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

📉Only 18,2% of foodstuffs went to the lower-middle/low-income States: Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Algeria, Yemen, Iran, Vietnam, Kenya, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Sudan, Pakistan, Somalia, Iraq, Morocco and Djibouti.

In other words, when you are being told that Ukraine is trying to “save the world from hunger” – it’s not. It’s just another MSM lie.

📰 The Insider selflessly defends former Chancellor of Germany

The latest “fake anti-fake” of this pseudo-analytical website is laughable. Foreign agents from this online publication scrambled to exonerate Angela Merkel, who admitted the other day that the Minsk agreements were nothing but an “attempt to buy precious time for Ukraine” for it to “get stronger.”

These pitiful investigative journalists acted as PR pros for the former leader of the FRG, but upon careful examination, their piece actually affirms Germany's unseemly intentions with respect to carrying out the Package of Measures for implementing the Minsk Agreements.

In particular, The Insider acknowledges that Merkel made it clear that she had no illusions about the likelihood of achieving a lasting peace through the Minsk talks. But statements by this German politician when she was Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany tell a different story:

💬 “The Minsk agreements are a good basis for a settlement”;
💬 “in the field of security policy in Europe, we must do our best, including the implementation of the Minsk [agreements]”;
💬 “despite the complexity of the situation, we must not lessen our efforts to implement the Minsk agreements”;
💬 “the Minsk agreements are the basis [of the settlement] and will remain such.”

❗️ Of the 13 provisions of the Package of Measures that are numbered in the order of implementation, the pseudo-analysts focused on the 10th provision and skipped the Kiev regime’s obligations with regard to the DPR and LPR that is had failed to honour.

In summary, one can only express gratitude to The Insider for unwittingly providing a useful service by debunking the hypocritical and false statements of Western politicians. Keep it up!
