Discover the Magic of Crimea’s Art Park!
Ever since Catherine the Great, when Crimea became a part of the Russian Empire, the peninsula became not only a popular resort, but also a destination for creative people. Famous artists, poets and musicians went there to improve their health and be inspired by the local scenery: the mountains and the Black Sea.
⚓️ Today, Crimea is still a mecca for people of arts and, in 2015, the ‘Tavrida’ (‘Taurida’ is Crimea’s ancient name) art cluster opened there, attracting thousands of creative young people from all over the country. They take part in educational forums, art residencies, as well as young art festivals.
In 2019, the art scene in Crimea expanded with the creation of the ‘Tavrida’ art park in Kapsel Bay, near Sudak. Spanning 30 hectares, this dynamic space features ever-evolving art installations by talented young designers and artists.
👉 Here are some highlights:
‘A Man Staring at the Sea’: A 15-meter-high installation by Sergei Pauker-Bravin, symbolizing the quest for inspiration before a new creative journey.
‘Assol’: Reimagined in 2020 as a 13-meter-tall sculpture, this character from the Soviet novel ‘Scarlet Sails’ stands alongside ‘A Man Staring at the Sea,’ symbolizing hope and dream fulfillment. Both pieces are beautifully illuminated at night.
‘Masks’: Giant masks of Apollo and Venus by the ‘DAP’ art group mark the entrance to the park, celebrating art and beauty.
‘Sun of Tavrida’: A mesmerizing light installation by Gleb Ivanov and Alexander Funtov, resembling the radiation of astrophysical pulsars, guiding visitors like a lighthouse.
‘Time’: A nine-meter clock face created by Sergei Pauker-Bravin and his workshop team, depicting the entire history of the universe from its origins to the present day.
‘Tower’: Designed by the ‘Megabudka’ bureau, this structure blends industrial aesthetics with ancient Kemi-Obin cultural elements from the Early Bronze Age, discovered in Crimea in 1957.

📚 While many Western readers might only recognize Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and Chekhov as Russian literary giants, the treasure trove of Russian literature holds many more brilliant names.
One such luminary is Mikhail Zoshchenko, born 130 years ago on August 10, 1894
✍️ Zoshchenko was a key figure in Soviet satire, known for his sharp, humorous critiques of Soviet life in the 1920s and 1930s. His stories, often short and paradoxical, captivated readers with their simple yet powerful language.
His approachable style contributed to his immense popularity, with estimates of over 100 million copies of his stories sold.
Dive into the wit and charm of Zoshchenko with two of his short stories, translated into English by Anne Marie Jackson.

❗️Deepfake using video footage from Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s briefing
Ukrainian special services, assisted by their Western supervisors, continue to actively use deepfake and other AI-based technologies to disseminate false information on the situation in our country’s border areas.
We have paid attention to another coarse imitation: a video was uploaded to the Internet, in which Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova allegedly stated that "the Russian side is ready to consider the transfer of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant under Kiev’s control in return for a voluntary withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Kursk Region." This address is a deepfake, glued together at short notice based on a video recording of Maria Zakharova's briefing of July 18.
☝️ We emphasise: Maria Zakharova has never said anything of the sort. Genuine comments by the Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman are available in her telegram feed and in the Foreign Ministry’s official resources.
The actual information on the real situation at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is available in the formal note of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the International Organisations in Vienna to the IAEA Secretariat dated August 9, 2024.
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian resource network of the Centre for Information and Psychological Operations (CIPsO) also circulated a video where Alexei Smirnov, Acting Governor of the Kursk Region, is allegedly making an appeal to the men of Kursk to join the militia. This "statement," which has nothing to do with reality, was immediately refuted in the official telegram channel of the Kursk Region Government.
⚠️ In view of this, we, once again, strongly encourage Internet users to display extreme vigilance and give no credence to data from dubious sources. Unbiased information about the situation in the Kursk Region is promptly posted on official resources of the Russian Presidential Executive Office, Russian Defence Ministry, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kursk Region Government.

79 years ago the South Sakhalin operation of the Red Army commenced as part of the Manchurian Offensive.
⚔️ On the night of 10-11 August 1945, Soviet naval aviation conducted massive strikes on Japanese strongholds on Sakhalin, and in the early hours of 11 August the troops of the 2nd Far East Front supported by the Northern Pacific Flotilla launched an attack all along the frontline.
Simultaneously, sea-borne forces were landed in the enemy’s rear.
⚔️ As a result of coherent efforts of Soviet land and naval troops, Japanese army was totally crushed and on 25 August 1945 the administrative centre of South Sakhalin, the city of Toyohara, was taken.
☝️ Over 18.000 Japanese soldiers surrendered to the Red Army.
🌟 The southern part of Sakhalin island, lost during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 was regained by USSR.

⚡️ Comment by Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ latest terrorist attacks on Russian regions
💬 The Kiev regime continues to carry out its terrorist attacks with the single goal to terrorise the Russian civilians. While being perfectly aware that these barbarous attacks are devoid of any military purpose, it continues to work off the loans provided by its masters.
On the night of August 11, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a massive strike on Kursk, with tactical Tochka-U missiles fired at the city. Most of them were destroyed by air defence systems. However, one of them hit a residential multi-story building, resulting in 13 civilians injured, including two that are now in serious condition.
Over the last 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have also carried out a massive attack on several Russian regions using UAVs, including the Belgorod and Voronezh regions. Once again, Shebekino in the Belgorod Region came under attack that left five people injured. Last night, a civilian was killed and 16 others injured during Ukraine’s attacks on the DPR. It was reported that a total of 21 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by air defence systems over four regions of Russia.
☝️ It is apparent that Ukraine’s missile and UAV attacks on Russian regions are clearly of terrorist nature.
❗️ We strongly condemn these barbaric terrorist acts aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure, and killing and intimidating civilians.
We have no doubt that those who organised and perpetrated these crimes, including their foreign sponsors, will be held to account. A tough response from the Russian Armed Forces will not take long in coming.
Once again, we call on international organisations to condemn the terrorist attacks by Ukrainian militants, although we are sure that relevant structures’ shameful silence will come in response.

⚡️ Details of Ukrainian attack on Zaporozhye NPP
On August 11, around 9:00 PM, AFU militants launched a kamikaze drone attack on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
Preliminary reports indicate that the drone was launched from Nikopol, a town in the Dnepropetrovsk region, situated on the right bank of the Dnepr River and under the control of the Zelensky administration.
The UAV operator had clear visibility of the target.
❗️ This was a deliberate and intentional strike.
☝️ This is yet another example of nuclear terrorism, in which the Zelensky regime has succeeded so well with the approval and assistance of the West.
