✍️ From Galician Rus' to Western Ukraine
Article by Kirill Shevchenko, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Russian State Social University
🔹 Eastern Galicia has traditionally been considered a stronghold of Ukrainian nationalism. However, it didn't acquire such an ethno-cultural identity until after the genocide of Galician-Russian activists unleashed by the Austro-Hungarian authorities during World War I.
🔹 Even in the first quarter of the 20th century, Ukrainian identity was not fully shaped as such among Galician Russians. Researchers believe that at that time, half of the Galician peasantry did not possess a clearly expressed national identity in its modern sense and served as an object of struggle "for souls."

Amid the recent statements by French President Macron regarding sending NATO troops to Ukraine, or reports related to the Bundeswehr leak which has revealed plans of attacking the Crimean bridge, one becomes more and more convinced that the West is indeed preparing for a war against Russia.
👉 Judge for yourselves.
The West is at the crossroads. They failed to ruin the Russian economy and stir a riot inside our country. They couldn’t isolate Russia and ‘cancel’ Russian culture, despite total ban on our media. The proxy war waged by the hands of Ukrainians and at the cost of their lives goes ill with the West as their warehouses are emptied out and the weapons supplies drop. The Armed Forces of Ukraine increasingly lack personnel, run short of ammunition and lose ground. It is becoming obvious that having bet all it had on Russia’s military defeat, the West has gotten itself into a political trap.
And the biggest concern is that we don’t see the rhetoric of US and EU officials becoming less bellicose. Quite the opposite, they speak more of a direct clash between NATO and Russia under the pretext that Russia allegedly ‘won’t stop.’
Apparently, they do not want to admit they were pursuing the wrong course with regard to Ukraine crisis, do not want to explain to their people why it was being done contrary to their countries’ interests, and do not want their people to hold them accountable.
❗️Against that background the path of further pushing for inflicting a military defeat upon Russia seems more acceptable to them, even though it puts the global security at risk.
Czech political analyst Petr Drulák says some representatives of NATO establishment are actually advocating and planning a war against Russia.
According to the expert one of the variants to start it is a false-flag operation. One of the Baltic states will claim it has been attacked by Russia and the bloc will have to interfere thereby launching the infernal mechanism, the expert says.

📆 #OTD, Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space who led the world into the era of space exploration, would have turned 90.
He was born in the village of Klushino near the town of Gzhatsk in Smolensk region. WW2 cast a gloom over the school years of young Yuri. The Nazis had taken over his native village the same year he started school. Two of Gagarin’s elder siblings were taken away to a German labor camp in 1943 and did not return until after the war.
🌟 In 1954, he joined the Saratov Amateur Flying Club and learned to fly a light aircraft. In 1957, Y.Gagarin was commissioned a lieutenant in the Soviet Air Force having accumulated 166 hours and 47 minutes of flight time. In March 1960 he was admitted to the 1st cosmonaut candidate group and started the training sessions in the newly built Star City in a suburb of Moscow.
🚀 Y.Gagarin’s “Vostok 1” spacecraft was launched at 9:07 AM Moscow time on 12 April 1961, orbited Earth once in 1 hour 29 minutes at a maximum altitude of 301 km.
When responding to the ground control if he was ready, he said, “Poekhali!” (“Let’s get going!” in Russian).
👨🚀 During his flight, Y.Gagarin famously whistled the tune of the traditional aviation hymn, “The Motherland Hears, The Motherland Knows.” The first report he sent to the ground control was, “The earth is blue. [...] How wonderful. It is amazing.”
🕊After his legendary flight he never went to space again, but took an active part in training other cosmonauts. He toured several times to other nations with a so-called Mission of Peace, and from 1962 he served as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet.
🕯 Y.Gagarin tragically died in a plane crash during a routine test flight. At that time, he was 34.

As Russia and a number of other states were celebrating the International Women’s Day, 8 March, the Kiev regime continued to struggle against it in a continued effort of ‘de-Sovietization.’ This year, the authorities issued a guideline how to celebrate this holiday, what should be wished to women and which words aren’t recommended for greetings.
In fact, the holiday would have been cancelled in Ukraine already a year ago, had it not been for the majority of Ukrainians, who were against such step. So, Kiev has opted to gradually move towards that goal.
It reminds us of Zelensky regime’s crackdown on the Russian language, native for 80% of population of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian orthodox church, enjoying the overwhelming support among believers in Ukraine. According to the recent Zelensky’s act, the celebration of Christmas in Ukraine was moved to 25 December – a decision generally ignored by ordinary Ukrainians who went on celebrating Christmas on 7 January.
No need to remind about history rewriting accompanied by the glorification of Nazis, unacceptable for the majority of Ukrainian people willing to continue to take pride in their grandparents who had fought and defeated Nazis.
Amazing but true: the Ukrainian people is under Kiev regime's occupation: they have DIFFERENT history, honour DIFFERENT heroes, they speak DIFFERENT languages, they celebrate DIFFERENT holidays.

🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin during a meeting with participants in the World Youth Festival (Sochi, 6 March 2024):
💬 It is always a tragedy when people fight each other, when people are killed and wounded.
☝️ Of course, we should always think about a better future. We should strive to create conditions for reducing the number of conflicts and expanding the scale of cooperation.

#Mariupol is coming back to life, recovering from the trauma and destruction the city had suffered under the neo-Nazis from the Azov battalion, who used civilians as human shields and civilian infrastructure as their fortified points.
👉 #See4Yourself, hear the residents of Mariupol, witnesses speak out.
🏢 Another 9 brand-new residential high-rises were commissioned: those who lost their apartments have received new flats (550 in this batch). The housing comes with children's playgrounds, schools and kindergartens - all included.

🇷🇺🏉🇿🇦 Russian rugby team Locomotive Penza, the ruling Russia champion in Rugby and Rugby-7, is on a three-week-long training camp in South Africa.
On the pitch, the Penza players are led by a coaching team involving Alexander Yanushkin as the head coach and Riaan van Straten as defence, backline and skills coach. The South African national signed a contract with the club in 2023.
In Russia, training was normally held either in a gym, or outdoors at sub-zero temperatures, unlike in South Africa.
💬 “It is good to be back on the natural grass pitch,” Riaan van Straten says. “Since first days in South Africa, the team has been working really hard. It’s worth mentioning that much work was done while we were in Penza, so now it’s about honing technical details.”
🤝 The program of the camp involves twice-daily training sessions. Both players and coaches note that the conditions in South Africa allow the team to work efficiently and rest properly to achieve good results.
🏆 Best of luck, guys!

🎙 Excerpts from the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at a conference on the 10th anniversary of the coup in Ukraine:
🔹 When the Americans and their satellites declared victory in the Cold War, they adopted a policy of expanding NATO. They ignored their own promises not to expand the alliance and not to deploy substantial armed forces on the territory of the new members.
🔹 The West has regarded Ukraine an anti-Russia bulwark since the moment it gained independence.
🔹The events in Kiev [in 2014] were yet another result of the Western divide-and-rule policy that is aimed at setting countries at loggerheads and provoking interstate conflicts.
🔹 Those who refused to accept the outcome of the coup in Kiev were branded as terrorists and an operation was launched against them.
🔹 Ukraine, which inherited a vast industrial potential from the Soviet Union and before that the Russian Empire, has become Europe’s poorest economy and a territory that is, without exaggeration, dying out.
❗️ The Kiev government is an internationally recognised beggar. Ukraine has no independence left whatsoever.
🔹 This is a striking example of the consequences of “dallying” with the West and thoughtless desire to conform to its political and economic approaches at any cost.
