🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:
🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question (January 31, 2024)
💬 The conflict has been going on for almost four months now. The colossal figures of loss and destruction speak for themselves – more than 26,000 people, including women and children, have become victims of indiscriminate bombardment and use of armed force. At least 65,000 people have been injured. 80 % of the entire population of Gaza have been internally displaced.
Due to the lack of unimpeded humanitarian access to the north and south of the enclave, especially to Khan Younis, and the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure (reportedly up to 50 %) Gaza faces equally deadly risks of famine and infectious disease epidemics.
❗️ For our part, we have consistently and unwaveringly advocated an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
Without a cessation of hostilities, there can be no meaningful humanitarian access to all those in need, no release of all hostages and no recovery of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement process on an internationally recognized basis.
☝️ Against this tragic humanitarian backdrop, we note the high-impact decision of a number of Western donors, led by the US, to suspend funding to UNRWA.
Provocative rhetoric of some representatives of Israel’s leadership, who call not only for the continuation of the military operation in the Gaza Strip, but also for the elimination of the UNRWA presence in the enclave and forced displacement of Palestinians from their places of permanent residence, is particularly alarming.
***
🇷🇺 Russia will continue to do its utmost to contribute to stabilization in the Middle East and to advance the Middle East settlement process together with the countries of the region and in coordination with other conscious mediators. As before, we are open to discussing relevant initiatives within the collective UN framework.

⚡️The UN International Court of Justice refused to designate Russia as an aggressor state and the DPR and LPR as terrorist organisations in response to Ukraine’s allegations.
👉 On Jan 31, the ICJ rejected almost all of more than 20 submissions made by Kiev during the seven-year proceeding; and left Ukraine without any reparations.
☝️ The Court also rejected Ukraine’s claim that Russia should be held responsible for the crash of Boeing Flight MH17 and did not accept the Ukrainians’ allegations that the DPR was involved in the crash.
❗️ From the decision of the Court it follows that Kiev made a criminal decision to start a war against Donbass. It was this criminal decision that led to the current disaster in Ukraine.
"Clearly a victory for Russia", France 24 reports. It is. That’s why the Western media is saying nothing about it.

🇷🇺 Investigative Committee of Russia:
⚡️ Investigators identify the weapons system used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to down the Il-76 plane in the Belgorod Region
The Investigative Committee is continuing its investigation of a criminal case following a terrorist attack perpetrated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the sky over the Belgorod Region.
It has been established that the service personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces using two missiles launched by a surface-to-air system from Liptsy, Kharkov Region, Ukraine.
The site is located 1.8 kilometres to the northeast and 4.8 kilometres to the southeast of the presumed impact site. The inspection helped identify 116 fragments belonging to the fuselage and mechanisms of the two missiles. They had English-language inscriptions and markings on them.
The following markings were found on the discovered fragments: ASSY 11455748, SN740179, ASSY 1146134», SN740206, ASSY 11461865, SN740207, Raytheon, CONFIDENTIAL classified by PATRIOT SECURITY CLASSIFICATION GUIDE DATED: 9/22/83 ADDENDA DATED 11/28/83 8/8/84 CONTRACT NO/DAAH01-86C-A018, as well as 18876 ASSY, MARTIN MARIETA and 10253043-39 02 S/N 80025.
The investigators used ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), gas-phase chromatography with mass spectrometric detection and high-performance liquid chromatography in selected ion mode to conduct a wipe analysis, which revealed traces of hexogen with up to 10 percent content of octogen, which is typical for foreign-made explosives.
These tests led to the conclusion that judging by their engineering features, geometry and markings the fragments from the crash site belong to the MIM-104A surface-to-air missile from the Patriot, a US launcher, developed by Raytheon and Hughes corporations and manufactured by Raytheon.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a BRICS sherpa and sous-sherpa meeting:
💬 The US-led collective West is doing everything in its power to preserve its domination, or whatever is left of it, which they have enjoyed for 500 years of human history.
☝🏼That domination rests on colonial wars, the exploitation of nations, and many other elements. It can be described as the privileged position of the “golden minority.”
❗️ The West is trying to preserve this status and to force all others, which we describe as the Global Majority now, to recognise its “privileges.”

🎙 FM Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at a BRICS Sherpa and Sous-Sherpa meeting, Moscow (January 31, 2024)
⚠️ The reliance of the Western minority on force and the suppression of dissent is leading to serious crises in international relations and increasing the number of conflicts.
• The Western policy affects us and we can feel the impact. Everyone knows that a hybrid war has been unleashed against Russia. The US and its allies want to impose the infamous Zelensky Formula on the international community.
• I asked those who attended the Peace Formula meeting in Davos whether the initiatives presented by the Global Majority got any traction, only to be told that no one paid any attention to them. They are not there to offer initiatives. <...> All they have to do is go there so that they can be counted among the participants for producing a new record for the whole world to see.
❗️ This demonstrates a total failure to respect the opinions of others and the desire to ignore them, which amounts to a purely colonial, imperialist attitude, no matter how you put it.
🌐 Nevertheless, we know the course of history cannot be reversed. We are witnessing the Global Majority.
• Our strategic partners, including those in #BRICS, are pursuing pragmatic and independent foreign policies – unlike the West, which tends to impose on others the development models that suit it.
• BRICS is a global organisational principle for the Global South and East. However, it is not based on the bloc principle, which I want to emphasise, but on the principles of mutual respect, a sovereign choice of development path and the implementation of the fundamental principle of the UN Charter, that is, the sovereign equality of states.
☝️ We will focus on ensuring the smooth inclusion of our new colleagues and new BRICS members in everyday activities. We will continue prioritising cooperation with countries (~30 of them) that have shown an interest in a rapprochement with BRICS and are prepared to participate in our practical projects.

🎙 Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov's interview with RT following first BRICS Sherpa and Sous-Sherpa meeting (February1, 2024)
Key talking points
• There are two major issues that we should deal with in the course of this Russian Year at BRICS:
👉 To smoothly integrate newcomers into the grouping.
👉 Present a report on principles, modalities for a partner-country category, and develop a list of potential partner-countries.
• BRICS countries further move towards making our whole financial banking and economic systems immune against adversary action and policies of the collective West.
• Earlier attempts of the Biden administration to unilaterally transform the Middle East and impose solutions that would allow for normalisation of relationship between Israel and some Arab states completely failed.
• We work deliberately to ensure that political process is once again in place and we ultimately reach the formula that would allow [the war between Israel and Palestine] to finish.
❗️ I am pretty confident that the moment will come when we will see reintroduction of US tactical nuclear weapons in the UK.
This is very fit into an aggressive and threatening pattern
which both Washington and London follow while dealing with the changing global security situation.
If they believe that reintroduction of nuclear weapons in UK would be an act of deterrence towards Russia, then they mistake and miscalculate once again.
☝️ We will find our ways how to counter this through military-technical means and it will not enhance security of United Kingdom, nor the US, nor NATO as a whole.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the embassy roundtable discussion of a settlement in Ukraine (Moscow, January 30, 2024)
💬 The Ukraine crisis is a test for the emerging multipolar world order, for the global majority, which is coming to the realisation that exclusive reliance on the mechanisms of international relations created by the collective West has no prospects.
• Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, now a consultant or adviser for the Vladimir Zelensky team, said recently that the West viewed Ukraine as a “defensive wall” in front of Russia. According to this mindset, everything that is linked with Ukraine must be used to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.
✍️ In 1942, the Nazi criminal Reichskommissar Erich Koch, later sentenced at the Nuremberg Trials, wrote, “Ukraine is merely an object of exploitation for us. It should pay for the expenses of the war, and its population to a certain extent should be utilised as second-rate people for the tasks of the war, even if they have to be caught with a lasso.” Doesn’t this remind you of anything❓
• In less than two years, the West has allocated over $200 billion to Ukraine to support its military programme and to shore up the budget of this totally insolvent country. To put this in perspective, the EU has appropriated less than 80 billion euros to be disbursed within seven years to provide socioeconomic support for the Global South and the Global East.
• Washington is forcing EU countries to send everything they have to Ukraine for next to nothing. The countries that do this are replenishing their arsenals with US-made weapons they buy at full price.
❗️ Weapons are spreading around the world. The Kiev regime has been famous for its efforts to seize every opportunity to make a profit, even if it deals in trading death.

🗓 On January 30, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke at a roundtable meeting organised by the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, titled Ukrainian Crisis: The Militarisation of Kiev’s Neo-Nazi Regime.
Around 70 representatives of the diplomatic missions from the Global South and East accredited in Moscow attended the event.
☝️ The Minister elaborated on the origins of the Ukrainian crisis, quoting facts indicating that the West had been intentionally making efforts to cultivate anti-Russia and neo-Nazi sentiments in Ukraine since it gained independence, and to transform the country into a tool for containing and delivering a strategic defeat to Russia.
The Minister presented facts and figures attesting to the fact that the Kiev regime had been undergoing militarisation for a prolonged period of time, stocking up on Western weapons that are now used in terrorist attacks against civilians, or end up, through the black market, in the hands of extremist organisations around the world. The minister warned against the potential violation of end-user certificate requirements in the course of military and technical cooperation.
❗️ On a separate note, Sergey Lavrov explained why the Zelensky Formula and associated events are inadequate and out of touch with reality. He pointed to the fact that Ukrainian leadership had breached the provisions of Ukraine’s neutral and non-aligned status and concerning the use and protection of the Russian language in the Declaration on State Sovereignty and the Constitution of Ukraine.
The participants in the roundtable meeting had an engaged exchange of opinions on other topical issues, including the situation in the Middle East, relations between the Global South and the collective West, and the international economic issues caused by the illegitimate sanctions.

🌟 Today Russia marks the Day of Military Glory – the Day of defeat of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad.
81 years ago, the Wehrmacht’s northern grouping in Stalingrad surrendered to the Red Army (following 2 days after the southern group led by General Field Marshal F.Paulus had done the same).
❗️The Battle of Stalingrad became one of the largest and bloodiest battles ever involving up to 2,1 million participants from both USSR and Nazi allies (Germans, Italians, Romanians, Hungarians). Soviet victory marked the turning point in WW2 with USSR seizing strategic initiative from Nazis.
☝️ In comparison, the Battle of El Alamein in North Africa often portrayed by Western historians as having decided the outcome of WW2 involved 335.000 soldiers from both sides.
👉 The Wehrmacht’s losses at Stalingrad amounted to 900.000, at El Alamein – some 28.000.
✍️ An English journalist is said to have written once that in 28 days Hitler captured the whole of Poland and in Stalingrad during the same period managed to capture only one house.
France surrendered to the Nazis in 38 days, for which the defenders of Stalingrad gave them only one street.
