🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with TASS News Agency (Moscow, September 28, 2023)
Key talking points:
• When starting to circulate provocative rumours like this, the West is obviously testing us for willingness to accept its terms, and they are not particularly subtle about it. They want to take a break for a few months without signing any agreement except a temporary ceasefire in order to gain time and pump more weapons into Ukraine.
• They cannot reproach us for lack of good will. <...> We are ready to come to terms, taking into account the realities on the ground, and based on our well-known position. It is also imperative to take into account our security interests and prevent the creation of a hostile Nazi regime on our borders.
• Historically, geographically, and geopolitically, it is not possible to lose Russia in the sense of completely disregarding its interests in the South Caucasus. However, some leaders in Yerevan are expressing such hopes openly.
• We have never had a negative attitude toward the Georgian people. We genuinely love them, just like we love all the South Caucasus nations. <...> We saw that the current government in Tbilisi is interested in normalising relations, at least in the interests of ordinary citizens.
• We don’t have unfriendly athletes, citizens, or even countries. There are unfriendly governments that have temporarily come to power in some countries whose people have always had good and friendly relations with us.

💬 The homage paid in the Canadian Parliament on September 22 to 98-year old Bandera follower Yaroslav Gunko (Hunka), who volunteered to serve in the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, accompanied by a standing ovation from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Speaker and members of the House of Commons, and Western diplomats who were invited to attend, including, characteristically, the German ambassador, continues to cause anger and condemnation even among Canada’s closest allies.
Canadian parliamentarians warmly applauded a war criminal who swore allegiance to Hitler and fought against Russians.
We consider Canada an extremely unfriendly state whose authorities have stained themselves by colluding with Nazism and betraying their own history.
***
💬 The very same countries of the collective West that were the loudest when proclaiming their democracy and that tried to lecture the rest of the world have without hesitation transitioned to total censorship in their desire to suppress all outbreaks of dissent. In violation of all international obligations, they literally eradicated the sources of alternative points of view from the information space their controlled.
They got rid of the Russian media and media resources and used every repressive trick in the book: from politically motivated bans on broadcasting and blocking websites to psychological pressure on journalists and their criminal prosecution.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s greetings to the hosts, participants, and guests of the 6th BRICS+ International Festival of Theatre Schools
💬 I warmly welcome the hosts, participants, and guests of the 6th BRICS+ International Festival of Theatre Schools.
Your forum has established itself as a popular creative venue that provides students from different countries with the opportunity to exchange professional experience and learn each other’s theatrical traditions, as well as to make true friends and, of course, to showcase their art to broad audiences.
It is good to see that this project is becoming increasingly popular beyond the BRICS+ and is attracting new participants. This is a clear example of the fact that international humanitarian relations remain an important tool for strengthening an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding among nations. We will continue to encourage this expansion of cultural exchanges.
I am confident that the festival will become an outstanding event in the busy life of the capital and leave indelible impressions on numerous spectators.
🤝 I wish you engaging meetings, success, and all the best.

🎙️ Excerpts from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s address:
✅ Millions of people made this conscious, long-awaited, hard-won and genuinely popular decision to be with their Fatherland. The referendums were held in full compliance with international norms.
⚔️ The people showed courage and integrity in the face of attempts to intimidate and deprive them of their right to determine their own future, their destiny, take away something that is precious to everyone – their culture, traditions, and language - everything that was loathed by nationalists and their Western patrons who orchestrated the 2014 coup in Kiev and then unleashed a full-scale civil war and terror against those who dared to disagree.
✊🏻 Yet nothing and no one can break the will of millions of people, their belief in the truth and historical justice. The free and unequivocal choice of our brothers and sisters was wholeheartedly supported by the Russian people.
❗️ We are one people, and together we can overcome anything and face every challenge!

How Mahatma Gandhi Drew Inspiration from Legendary Russian Author
🇷🇺 🇮🇳 On October 2nd, Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian politician, human rights activist, and freedom fighter, was born. In India, he is hailed as a national hero who liberated his country, however his influence transcends borders and he is revered globally.
💬"The greatest apostle of non-violence that the present age has produced” and a “great teacher whom I have long looked upon as one of my guides” — these are just a few ways Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948) described Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910).
🟧 Born in different countries and during different eras, they belonged to different generations. The youthful and still undiscovered Gandhi sought wisdom in the works of the already renowned Tolstoy.
