🌟 On 28 June 2024, St. Petersburg hosted a spectacular celebration known as #ScarletSails, an annual tribute to the city's schoolkids' graduation. This vibrant event has evolved into a highlight of the summer, eagerly anticipated not only by locals but also by visitors to Russia's Northern Capital.
"Scarlet Sails" is a large-scale multimedia performance on the Neva River, integrating cutting-edge technologies across a sprawling water expanse measuring 1.8 kilometers by 800 meters. The evening culminates with the departure of brig (sailing ship)"Russia" decorated with scarlet sails amidst a backdrop of fireworks.
📝 The graduates of 1968 were the first to see the solemn passage of ships along the Neva River. That evening a squadron of boats emerged beneath the Kirov Bridge, parading in formation to open the festivities. The Admiral's boat "Leningrad" carried three graduates who opened the celebration.
The tradition was interrupted in the 1990s, resumed in 2005.
🌟 Every year up to three million people take part in the festivities. Among them there are happy graduates of secondary schools, their teachers and parents, residents and guests of the city. In recent years, there has been a tradition of inviting distinguished schoolchildren from other parts of Russia to the holiday. In 2024, students from Russia's Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions were invited to the celebration in St. Petersburg.

⚡️Foreign Minister’s Special Representative for Cooperation to Promote Respect for the Right to Freedom of Religion and Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Gennady Askaldovich’s comment on the newly released US State Department’s 2023 International Religious Freedom Report (June 28, 2024)
💬 As before, Washington arrogantly gave other countries marks without even trying to maintain a semblance of objectivity and hide another attempt to impose its infamous rules-based order on everyone.
This extensive document was drafted with the involvement of all US diplomatic missions, pro-Western NGOs, and other organisations. It cites “facts” about violations of believers’ rights and persecution of dissenters, and describes experiences of combating such abuses in 199 countries worldwide. The fact that the situation in allied countries is presented in a neutral, even sparing manner, catches the eye instantly, which, of course, cannot be said about the countries that are unwilling to obey Uncle Sam’s diktat.
🔻The report reflects profound degradation of Russia-US bilateral relations, which occurred through Washington’s fault, and the unwillingness to hear or understand our arguments and points of view, including with regard to the causes and progress of the special military operation.
<...>
The report compilers relied again on biased sources from among the pro-Western NGOs on its payroll which work according to the “whatever you wish” principle. In Russia, these and similar entities are listed as undesirable organisations and foreign agents. Their goal is to destroy the Russian state. But the Americans welcome and use such partners to their advantage.
☝️Having our own laws is the prerogative of Russia as a sovereign state. We will not listen to what overseas experts have to preach, including dubious “standards” or “benchmarks,” especially so when they embolden extremists, which can lead to the most tragic consequences.
