Let me give you guys reeling back in shock at the thought of Nazi germany not actually being socialist the hippenest hoppenest hot take of the century. Fascism at it's most basic definition is the merging of corporate capital into the organs of the state and the elimination of democracy altogether. Corporate capital is forced to serve the will of unelected politicians and does nothing to eliminate profiteering or accumulation of capital.
Soviet style socialism on the other hand is the elemination of corporate capital altogether and the process of putting the power of the state organs into the hands of the proletariat themselves, usually organized along workers councils (soviets) who plan out resource allocation and distribution.
Nazi germany may have had large welfare spending programs but it most definitely was not socialism. Again, a totalitarian welfare state is the most apt description and welfare does not a socialism make.
