· If an app has a potential issue with its overall quality, a yellow alert box on its Play Store page will inform you.
· Warnings include frequent uninstalls, less frequent engagement, and a low user count.

Oddly enough, Turbine analytics suggest that Steam releases are generally less successful. During the last couple of years a lot of small teams shifted from Mobile to Steam, hoping to cash-out, but it cause a significant increase in total released games numbers (12K 2022, 14K '23, and 19K in 2024).

But it's also worth mentioning that the majority of Steam games have cheaper marketing and overall costs per project, which means, even $250K IMO should be considered a success for the majority of them.

In general, I'd say that these markets can't and shouldn't be compared so directly without proper context and adjustments between costs, terms, and then profits.

Folks, I have a mobile publisher who is interested in a wide range of hybrid casual and casual games. Preferably Unity.

They can help with user acquisition, creatives and playables production, Amazon publishing, and more. Usually with a revenue share model, but deals are flexible and personal.

Apple complied with the court rule and now, according to their EULA, apps in the US can suggest users too leave into the web version and pay cheaper without Apple fees.

Funny enough: there are TWO Call of Duty mobile games — the original one in Unity and Warzone Mobile made with IW9 engine. The original one still has better metrics, but it's on revenue share 😎 #Callofduty@GameDEV #Activision@GameDEV #MobileGames@GameDEV
Not anymore: Warzone Mobile is discontinued — the game failed commercially. Most of the disappointment is related to the IW9 game engine, which is too heavy for an average mobile device.

A few years ago the same issues forced EA to shut down Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile. Games looked gorgeous and felt superb, but only a fraction of users was able to play for at least 30 minutes in a row without burning their smartphones.

Mobile games market in Japan is now more fair and competitive. My biggest hope is to see more indie versions of Android over the next few years.
