#Iceland: the Prime Minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir (V-LEFT), has announced her resignation to run for president, a ceremonial position.

Under the governing coalition agreement between left-wing V (LEFT), centre-right B (RE), and centre-right D (EPP), Jakobsdóttir would be Prime Minister until the next elections, which must be held by 2025. Support for the governing coalition has been falling, while the centre-left S (S&D) is leading in polling for the next national parliament election.
