📆 25 апреля мы отмечаем годовщину исторической встречи советских и американских войск на реке Эльба. С того дня прошло 78 лет. Сегодняшнее событие символизирует боевое братство СССР и США, сражавшихся плечом к плечу против гитлеровской Германии в годы Второй мировой войны.
🎆 Тогда небо над Москвой озарил праздничный салют. Торжества также прошли в центре Нью-Йорка. Фотоснимок исторического рукопожатия советского и американского лейтенантов в считанные часы облетел весь мир.
🤝 В нашей стране чтят вклад союзников по антигитлеровской коалиции в искоренение «коричневой чумы». Мы всегда будем отдавать дань уважения мужеству и доблести товарищей по оружию.
🇺🇸🪖 Американские фронтовики и обычные граждане также бережно хранят память о великих подвигах. Каждый год возлагают цветы к мемориалам Второй мировой войны в разных штатах: к памятникам советским воинам в Лос-Анджелесе, морякам Торгового флота США в ознаменование начала поставок по программе «ленд-лиз» в Нью-Йорке, героям «Алсиба» в Фэрбенксе, могиле красноармейца в Сиэтле. В 2020 г. многие жители Элизабет-Сити во главе с мэром пришли почтить память о наших летчиках, погибших в результате крушения гидроплана класса «Каталина» при перегоне в СССР в рамках проекта «Зебра».
Сегодняшняя историческая дата для нас святая. Мы освободили Европу от фашистской скверны. Агрессор тогда был побежден. Благодаря совместным усилиям при решающей роли Красной Армии мы разгромили врага.
🎖 Всё меньше остается солдат, которые выиграли в той войне. Годы стирают в памяти те страшные события, Америка потеряла тогда около полумиллиона своих военнослужащих. Тяжелейшее горе легло на плечи советского народа. В нашей стране погибло более двадцати семи миллионов человек.
☝️ Мы не должны допустить повторения прежних ошибок. Сегодня общая задача - бороться за мир и безопасность против ростков «коричневой чумы», которые дали бурные всходы на Украине и в ряде европейских государств. Против любых попыток оправдать нацистских преступников и их пособников.
Жить и укреплять оборону Родины можно лишь помня уроки истории. Считаю одной из главных задач рассказать подрастающему поколению о тех героических днях. Донести до молодых людей тот факт, что благодаря миллионам солдат и офицеров из СССР и других государств, они могут наслаждаться жизнью. Необходимо оберегать мемориалы и места захоронения солдат и офицеров, погибших в ужасные годы Второй мировой войны.
❌ Нам всё труднее достучаться до официального Вашингтона относительно важности сохранения памяти и совместной работы по увековечению героев тех времен.
Второй год подряд Посольству запрещают традиционную церемонию возложения венков к мемориальной табличке «Дух Эльбы» на Арлингтонском кладбище.
В прошлом декабре нашим дипломатам не разрешили посетить Национальное кладбище Форт-Ричардсон в Анкоридже, где захоронены советские летчики, погибшие в 1942-1945 гг. при перегоне самолетов из США в СССР по трассе «Аляска-Сибирь».
⚠️ Такое отношение оскорбительно не только для ветеранов двух стран, но и всех, кто помнит их великий подвиг.
‼️ Низкий поклон и глубокая благодарность всем участникам антигитлеровской коалиции, сражавшимся за свободу и мирное будущее на нашей планете!

📆 On April 25, we celebrate the Historic Meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe River. 78 years have passed since then. This day symbolizes the brotherhood-in-arms between the USSR and the United States that fought shoulder to shoulder against Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
🎆 The sky of Moscow lit up with festive fireworks on that day. Celebrations also took place in New York. The iconic photo of the historic handshake between the Soviet and U.S. army lieutenants rapidly spread around the world.
🤝 People in our country honor the contribution of the anti-Hitler Coalition Allies into eradicating the “brown plague”. We will always pay tribute to courage and valor of comrades-in-arms.
🇺🇸🪖 U.S. veterans and ordinary citizens also hold dear the memory of the great deeds. Every year they lay flowers to World War II memorials in different states – to the monuments to Soviet warriors in Los Angeles, to the sailors of the U.S. Merchant Marine in New York to commemorate the beginning of the “lend lease” shipments, to the heroes of the Alaska-Siberia air bridge in Fairbanks as well as to the tomb of the Red Army soldier in Seattle. In 2020, many dwellers of Elizabeth City headed by the mayor paid homage to our pilots who had lost their lives when the “Catalina” hydroplane had crashed while being transported to the USSR under the “Zebra” project.
Today's historic date is sacred to us. We liberated Europe from the Fascist filth. The aggressor was defeated then. Thanks to the joint efforts, with the decisive role of the Red Army, we crushed the enemy.
🎖 There are fewer and fewer soldiers left who won that war. Time erases the memory of those horrific events, America lost about half a million of its troops back at that time. The Soviet people took the brunt of the war. Our country lost more than twenty-seven million people.
☝️ We must not let the previous mistakes repeat themselves. Today, the common task is to fight for peace and security against the sprouts of the "brown plague", which have been flourishing in Ukraine and other European countries, against any attempts to justify the Nazi criminals and their accomplices.
With remembering the lessons of history, we can live and strengthen the defense of the Motherland. I believe one of the main tasks is to tell the younger generation about those heroic days. To convey to young people the fact that thanks to millions of soldiers and officers from the USSR and other states, they can enjoy their life. It is necessary to protect the memorials and the burial grounds of the soldiers and officers who perished during the terrible years of World War II.
❌ It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to reach out to official Washington about the importance of preserving memory and working together to perpetuate the heroes of those times. The Embassy has been banned from taking part in the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the Spirit of the Elbe marker at Arlington National Cemetery for the second year in a row. Last December our diplomats were not allowed to visit Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage, where Soviet pilots, who died in 1942-1945 while transferring aircraft from the USA to the USSR along the Alaska-Siberia route, are buried.
⚠️ Such an attitude is insulting not only for the veterans of the two countries, but also for everyone who remembers their great deeds.
‼️ We express deep gratitude and take a deep bow to all members of the anti-Hitler coalition who fought for freedom and a peaceful future on our planet!

🗓 On April 24, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York City on the sidelines of events held as part of Russia’s presidency of the UN Security Council in April.
The Minister thanked the Secretary-General for taking part in a key meeting of the UN Security Council under the Russian presidency on ‘Effective Multilateralism through the defence of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.’
Various aspects of Russia-UN cooperation, as well as key issues of the international agenda, were discussed in great detail.
☝️ The focus of the discussion was the situation in and around Ukraine. The Minister once again set forth a highly detailed assessment of the root causes of the current crisis, and the pace and goals of the special military operation that aims to eliminate threats to Russia’s national security. He sternly criticised the behaviour of Western states that use the UN to advance politically motivated anti-Russia initiatives that can only prolong the current crisis.
He urged the UN leadership to unfailingly honour the fundamental principles of unbiased and equidistant conduct, as stipulated by Article 100 of the UN Charter.
Sergey Lavrov also drew special attention to the failure of the United States to fulfil its obligations under the Agreement regarding the Headquarters of the United Nations. This included failure to issue visas to Russian representatives, due to attend various UN events, the illegal sequestration of Russian diplomatic property and the introduction of travel restrictions on Russian diplomats. He once again emphasised that Antonio Guterres must launch arbitration proceedings with regard to the United States as soon as possible, as prescribed under numerous UN General Assembly resolutions on the issue.
They exchanged detailed opinions on several topical issues reviewed by the UN Security Council, including the situation in Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan, as well as the Israeli-Palestinian settlement. Sergey Lavrov and Antonio Guterres agreed that there was no alternative to constructive interaction between all UNSC members in order to overcome these and other crisis situations.
❗️ Substantial attention was devoted to issues of implementing the July 2022 Istanbul agreements for exporting Ukrainian foodstuffs and facilitating the unimpeded access of Russian agricultural and fertiliser exports to the global market. Sergey Lavrov noted that, despite the fact that these agreements form an interlinked package, there has so far been no headway in fulfilling the memorandum between Russia and the UN Secretariat against the backdrop of stable Ukrainian grain deliveries.
🇺🇳 Sergey Lavrov and Antonio Guterres noted the importance of strengthening the UN’s central coordinating role in global politics still further and promoting genuine multilateralism that relies on the fundamental norms of international law, including the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Key points:
🔹 Today, our UN-centric system is going through a deep crisis. The main reason is a striving by some UN members to replace international law and the UN Charter with a certain “rules-based” order.
🔹 The collective West has set out to reshape the processes of multilateralism at the regional level to suit its needs.
🔹 The United States and its allies have deployed significant forces to undermine multilateralism in the Asia-Pacific region where an ASEAN-centered successful and open economic and security cooperation system has been taking shape for decades.
🔹 Since World War II, Washington has pulled off dozens of reckless criminal military operations without even trying to secure multilateral legitimacy.
🔹 Multilateral efforts were made to stop the war unleashed in the east of Ukraine as a result of a government coup. These efforts towards peaceful settlement were embodied in a UN Security Council resolution that unanimously approved the Minsk agreements. Kiev and its Western bosses trampled these agreements underfoot.
🔹 There should be no such thing as double standards. Both multilateralism and democracy should be respected within the member countries and in their relations with one another.
🔹 It is imperative to expedite Security Council reform by expanding the representation of countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
🔹 It is our common duty to preserve the United Nations as the hard-won epitome of multilateralism and coordination of international politics. The key to success lies in working together and showing respect for the sovereign equality of states.

Основные тезисы:
🔹 Ближний Восток сегодня переживает глубинную трансформацию, которая разворачивается весьма противоречиво.
Как никогда требуются оздоровление отношений между государствами региона, стабилизация в зонах конфликтов и наращивание усилий по их политико-дипломатическому урегулированию с опорой на принципы Устава ООН.
🔹 Исходим из приоритетности формирования на Ближнем Востоке устойчивой и всеобъемлющей архитектуры стабильности и сотрудничества, продвижения межрелигиозного и межкультурного диалога.
Намерены развивать активное взаимодействие со всеми странами региона как в двустороннем формате, так и по линии наших контактов с Организацией исламского сотрудничества, Лигой арабских государств, Советом сотрудничества арабских государств Персидского залива.
🔹 Приветствуем позитивные перемены ещё недавно казавшиеся труднодостижимыми. Имею в виду, прежде всего, восстановление отношений между Саудовской Аравией и Исламской Республикой Иран при посредничестве Китайской Народной Республики, практические планы возвращения Сирии в «арабскую семью», начавшуюся при российском содействии нормализацию между Дамаском и Анкарой с использованием преимуществ «Астанинского формата».
🔹 С глубоким сожалением и тревогой констатируем, что «за бортом» положительных изменений остаётся палестинская проблема.
🔹 События на Западном берегу, в секторе Газа, Восточном Иерусалиме, а также на линии разъединения между Израилем, Ливаном и Сирией повысили напряжённость до крайне опасной отметки. Ситуация усугубляется израильскими ударами по Сирии.
🔹 Абсолютным императивом видим подтверждение всеми ведущими игроками безальтернативности двугосударственного решения как отвечающего праву палестинцев на собственное независимое государство со столицей в Восточном Иерусалиме и праву израильтян на мирное и безопасное сосуществование со своими соседями и в регионе в целом.
🔹 США и Евросоюз продолжают деструктивные попытки подменить реальный мир некими экономическими полумерами и продвинуть арабо-израильскую нормализацию в обход справедливого решения палестинской проблемы и в обход Арабской мирной инициативы.
🔹 Американцы и европейцы грубо спекулируют на украинской теме, пытаясь шантажом и угрозами затянуть на свою сторону развивающиеся страны и тем самым отвлечь их внимание от проблем Ближнего Востока и других регионов Глобального Юга.
🔹 Кризисы, в урегулировании которых давно заинтересованы развивающиеся страны, становятся жертвой двойных стандартов и колониальных инстинктов Запада, одержимого эгоистичными интересами диктовать всему миру свои требования, игнорируя культуру и традиции других народов, и издеваясь над международным правом.
🔹 В подобных условиях роль ООН как координатора многосторонней дипломатии особенно востребована. Призываем руководство Секретариата и лично Генерального секретаря уделять повышенное внимание соблюдению решений Совета Безопасности.
🔹 Призываем израильтян и палестинцев прекратить все односторонние действия, которые ставят под угрозу возможность реализации двугосударственной формулы, включая террористические и другие вооруженные атаки, подстрекательства к агрессии, непропорциональное применение силы с чьей бы то ни было стороны, неправомерные действия в связи с проблемой поселений, попытки изменить статус-кво Иерусалима.
🔹 Россия будет и впредь делать всё возможное, чтобы способствовать стабилизации Ближнего Востока и Северной Африки, продвигать процесс ближневосточного урегулирования вместе со странами региона и в координации с другими добросовестными посредниками.

🔹 Призываем израильтян и палестинцев прекратить все односторонние действия, которые ставят под угрозу возможность реализации двугосударственной формулы, включая террористические и другие вооруженные атаки, подстрекательства к агрессии, непропорциональное применение силы с чьей бы то ни было стороны, неправомерные действия в связи с проблемой поселений, попытки изменить статус-кво Иерусалима.
🔹 Россия будет и впредь делать всё возможное, чтобы способствовать стабилизации Ближнего Востока и Северной Африки, продвигать процесс ближневосточного урегулирования вместе со странами региона и в координации с другими добросовестными посредниками.

🇷🇺🇦🇪 25 апреля в Нью-Йорке Министр иностранных дел Российской Федерации С.В.Лавров провёл беседу с Государственным министром Объединенных Арабских Эмиратов Халифой Шахином Аль-Мараром.
• Состоялось обсуждение актуальных вопросов дальнейшего развития многопланового российско-эмиратского взаимодействия, в том числе на площадке ООН.
• Подтверждён обоюдный настрой Москвы и Абу-Даби на наращивание всего комплекса двусторонних отношений, включая взаимовыгодную кооперацию в торгово-экономической и энергетической сферах.
• Были также рассмотрены некоторые ключевые аспекты международной и региональной повестки дня.

💬 The meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres lasted over an hour. We considered the current issues on the UN agenda.
Antonio Guterres focused on the prospects for the further implementation of the Black Sea Initiative in the context of his own proposal, which was introduced and approved on July 22, 2022.
As he said himself, this is a package that includes assistance for exporting Ukrainian grain from Ukrainian ports and an identical commitment to the Russian Federation in that it concerns the removal of all obstacles to exporting Russian grain, primarily wheat, and fertilisers, created by the Western countries (primarily the United States, the EU, and the UK).
The Secretary-General described his efforts at promoting the Russian part of the deal as much as possible. So far, the progress has not been obvious. He expressed his considerations in a letter explaining the ideas on the further course of actions. This letter requires a thorough review.
Thus far, we do not see the Western countries’ desire to carry out what is necessary for the successful implementation of the Secretary-General’s initiative on the package approach to exporting agriculture products from Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
We will study his latest ideas now that we have them in black and white.

🌐 The Middle East is currently going through a profound transformation that is unfolding in a way that is rather contradictory.
🔹 We attribute priority importance to building a sustainable and inclusive security and cooperation architecture in the Middle East and promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
☝️ We welcome the positive changes that even a short time ago seemed so difficult to achieve. I am referring, first and foremost, to the restoration of relations between Saudi Arabia and Islamic Republic of Iran with the mediation of the People’s Republic of China, the plans to bring Syria back into the Arab family – something we have been working on for a long time – and the normalisation of relations between Damascus and Ankara, which has begun with Russia’s assistance using the advantages offered by the Astana format.
🔹 We have to state with deep regret and concern that these positive changes have left the Palestinian issue on the sidelines.
🔹 The absolute imperative, however, is for all leading actors to reaffirm the lack of any alternatives to the two-state solution as one ensuring the right of Palestinians to their own independent state with the capital in East Jerusalem and the right of Israelis to safe and peaceful coexistence with their neighbours and the region as a whole.
🇺🇸🇪🇺 The US and the EU continue their destructive attempts to substitute genuine peace with some economic half measures and promote the Arab-Israeli normalisation bypassing the just solution to the Palestinian problem and the Arab Peace Initiative.
🇷🇺 Russia will continue to contribute to stabilisation in the Middle East and North Africa, and to promote the Middle East peace process together will the countries in the region and in coordination with other mediators acting in good faith.
