🎻Russian Embassy in the United States hosted a musical evening dedicated to Diplomatic Worker’s Day. The event was attended by colleagues of the diplomatic corps, journalists, representatives of the Bretton Woods institutions, compatriots and American experts. Under the enchanting sounds of piano and cello the guests listened to Russian and international masterpieces, including immortal works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Everyone’s favorite waltzes by A.S.Griboedov and D.D.Shostakovich.

🇷🇺🇺🇸In his welcoming speech Charge d’Affaires of Russia in the USA Alexander Kim congratulated the staff of the diplomatic mission on their professional holiday. He noted the difficult tasks facing the Russian diplomacy in the current critical times. He emphasized the active role of our country in shaping the international agenda, providing important guarantees for the security of the Fatherland.

📷 The audience familiarized themselves with the photo expositions devoted to the history of Russia’s foreign service, the contribution of diplomats to the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 80th anniversary of which we are celebrating this year with a focus on the anniversary of the Yalta (Crimean) Conference, which laid the foundations for building the post-war world order.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 🔟 февраля Посольство России в США продолжило серию памятных и просветительских мероприятий, приуроченных ко Дню дипломатического работника. Дипломаты возложили венок к могиле чрезвычайного посланника и полномочного министра Российской Империи в Соединенных Штатах А.А.Бодиско на кладбище Оук-Хилл в историческом районе американской столицы.

🔹А.А.Бодиско 17 лет служил в США на благо нашего Отечества (1837-1854 гг.). Этот своеобразный рекорд был превзойден только А.Ф.Добрыниным, руководившим советской дипмиссией в Вашингтоне 24 года.

🔹Александру Андреевичу удалось сделать многое для развития отношений между Российской империей и Америкой. Показательно в этой связи, что в день его кончины обе палаты конгресса в знак уважения прервали на один день свою работу. А траурную церемонию посетил президент Ф.Пирс. В семейном захоронении покоится и сын российского посланника В.А.Бодиско, работавший генеральным консулом России в Нью-Йорке с 1870 по 1878 гг.

🔹Отечественная дипломатия бережно хранит и преумножает славные традиции, заложенные выдающимися предшественниками. Преемственность поколений внешнеполитической службы позволяет обеспечивать нашей стране активную роль в международных процессах, выстраивать конструктивный и взаимоуважительный диалог с иностранными партнерами. Вносить тем самым вклад в защиту национальных интересов и внутреннего развития государства.

🔹Свои познания в истории отечественной и зарубежной дипломатии, вехах российско-американских отношений сотрудники Посольства в тот же день смогли проверить в ходе Дипломатического диктанта – первой просветительской акции подобного рода в США.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 On February 10, the Russian Embassy in the United States continued the series of commemorative and educational events dedicated to Diplomatic Worker's Day. Diplomats laid a wreath at the grave of A.Bodisco, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Russian Empire to the United States, at Oak Hill Cemetery in the historic district of the American capital.

🔹A.Bodisco served in the United States for 17 years for the benefit of our Fatherland (1837-1854). This peculiar record was surpassed only by A.Dobrynin, who headed the Soviet diplomatic mission in Washington for 24 years.

🔹Alexander Bodisco managed to facilitate the relations between the Russian Empire and America. It is indicative in this regard that on the day of his death, both houses of Congress suspended their work for one day as a sign of respect. And the funeral ceremony was attended by President F. Pierce. In the family grave rests also the son of the Russian envoy V.Bodisco, who worked as Consul General of Russia in New York from 1870 to 1878.

🔹Russian diplomacy carefully preserves and multiplies the glorious traditions laid down by outstanding predecessors. The continuity of generations of foreign policy service allows our country to play an active role in international processes, to build a constructive and mutually respectful dialog with foreign partners. Thereby defending the national interests and contributing to the internal development of the State.

🔹Employees of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United States have revisited the history of Russian and foreign diplomacy and milestones in Russian-American relations.
