It is deeply gratifying that the followers of Islam in our country have a deep respect for the country’s centuries-old historical, religious and cultural traditions and are bringing up young people in accordance with them. It is actively developing ties with government and public organisations and giving unceasing attention to educational, enlightenment and charity initiatives.

🌐 Today is International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace.

On December 12, 2018, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution A/RES/73/127 on marking this day. The document notes that the International Day aims to promote UN values and to reaffirm the trust of the world’s nations in the goals and principles of the UN Charter.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Russia is invariably committed to the policy of upholding multilateralism and the UN’s leading role in global affairs and is actively involved in efforts to overhaul the UN and to adapt it to new international realities.

This is particularly topical today when a narrow group of states advancing the rules-based order concept exerts unprecedented pressure on the UN and other multilateral institutions.

✍️ Under the Russian Foreign Policy Concept, approved on March 31, 2023, Russia intends to prioritise efforts to reinstate the UN’s role as a central coordination mechanism in coordinating the interests of UN member states.

At the same time, one of the main aims of national foreign policy is to strengthen the potential of multilateral regional associations and integration organisations involving Russia. For example, this refers to measures to enhance the international role of #BRICS, the #SCO, the #CIS, the #EAEU, the #CSTO, #RIC and other interstate associations and international organisations, as well as mechanisms with significant Russian involvement.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the results of his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

💬 The meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres lasted over an hour. We considered the current issues on the UN agenda.

Antonio Guterres focused on the prospects for the further implementation of the Black Sea Initiative in the context of his own proposal, which was introduced and approved on July 22, 2022.

As he said himself, this is a package that includes assistance for exporting Ukrainian grain from Ukrainian ports and an identical commitment to the Russian Federation in that it concerns the removal of all obstacles to exporting Russian grain, primarily wheat, and fertilisers, created by the Western countries (primarily the United States, the EU, and the UK).

The Secretary-General described his efforts at promoting the Russian part of the deal as much as possible. So far, the progress has not been obvious. He expressed his considerations in a letter explaining the ideas on the further course of actions. This letter requires a thorough review.

Thus far, we do not see the Western countries’ desire to carry out what is necessary for the successful implementation of the Secretary-General’s initiative on the package approach to exporting agriculture products from Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

We will study his latest ideas now that we have them in black and white.

🗓On 28 April 2023 Siem Reap, Cambodia 🇰🇭 hosted the 19th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials' Meeting (#ARSOM). Russian delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Andrey Rudenko.

🔹 Participants discussed preparations for the ASEAN-Russia Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in July. They agreed to undertake a number of specific steps to implement and further promote the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership which celebrates its 5th Anniversary this year and exchanged views on ways to further deepen cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

🔹Delegates agreed to increase interaction on food and energy security, digitalization, finance, education, including by creating new cooperation mechanisms.

🔹The Meeting reiterated shared intention to jointly address challenges and threats, strengthen ASEAN-led regional security architecture in Asia-Pacific. Issues of promoting cross-platform links between #ASEAN, #EEU and #SCO were also on the agenda.
